Meet Peta
Hailing from Whakatane, I was absolutely spoilt to have such an incredible playground for both me and the horses that came into my life. I was privileged enough to have my first pony provided by my parents, but equally humbled enough at the fact that she was green broke, had a few tricks up her sleeve, and the reality of the logistical nightmare that was getting your saddle to your horse on a bike quickly set in. Luckily, kids bounce and gravel doesn’t hurt too much through leather boots! Regardless of the few scrapes, dings and questionable ways to fall off- I felt like the luckiest kid in the world, and that feeling never left.
My devotion and huge learnings throughout my career have led me to the success I have in working with horses and their people. Meraki means to put a piece of yourself into what you do, and I am proud that each horse I work with leaves with a little piece of myself and my work when they depart.
